Preparation

Wedding Info

Below is a summary of things to keep in mind for your wedding day that will help you look your absolute best.

  • Organising a wedding is very stressful, so look after yourself by making sure you are getting enough sleep and you are eating properly.
  • See a beautician two to four months before the wedding day to get a couple of facials done and if necessary to have your eyebrows shaped.
  • Do not have any facial treatment two weeks prior to your wedding to avoid any adverse skin reactions.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure and bikini tan lines.
  • Avoid too much coffee and alcohol a few days before the wedding day.
  • The wedding make-up applied by a Make-Up Artist will look more dramatic than your everyday look. This is necessary to get good definition so you don't look washed out and pale in your wedding photos.
  • On your wedding day allow plenty of time to get your hair and make-up done. You don't want to be rushing on this day.
  • Ask your mum or a bridesmaid to carry a powder compact, lipstick (gloss) and a tissue for you.
Even a small can of hairspray may come in handy.
  • Hide a tissue in your flower bouqet to remove lipstick stains from the groom's lips.
  • Spraytans have been quite popular. Get them done two days prior, so they look more natural.
  • And last but not least, remember to pack Make-up remover in your overnight bag.
It all has to come off at the end of the day!

And remember... on your wedding day you want to look like you, just very special, radiant and beautiful. Stay away from up to the minute trends since your photos will outlast them.

Tricks of the Trade

  • My favourite tool everybody should be using is the eyelash curler. Curling your lashes will open up the eye area.
  • The 'chux' kitchen cloth is a great face washer and make-up remover, much softer then a face washer or tissues.
  • If you are out of make-up remover try the good old olive oil, it does a wonderful job. It is also a great natural body lotion.
  • Blush is the one thing not many bother with, which is a shame. It will make such a difference to the way you look. It will give you a lift and make you look healthy and refreshed even when you are not. Try a mauvy coloured cream blush, dab it on the apples of your cheeks and blend. You can also put a little on your temples, forehead and chin. This will bring your face together and give you a nice glow. Experiment with layering, putting a brighter shade on top. Cream blushes haven't got the staying power like powder blushes so finish of with a little loose Powder, it will make it last longer and also make it look as if it's coming from within. I also like soft shades of apricots and pinks.
  • The one thing I always carry with me is a good clear Lip lacquer or Lip glass. It looks great by itself or over just lightly stained lips. Gorrrrrrrgeous.
  • Eyeliner the pro way: Apply liquid liner first, followed by pencil and finish with the same colour powder eye shadow to set the pencil and soften the line. Applying liquid liner requires lots of practice and patience. So don't give up.
